PHOENIX — This weekend the Poinsettia Festival kicks off in south Phoenix.

It’s the 24th anniversary of the festival devoted to the traditional holiday plant.

The 24th Annual Poinsettia Festival runs for the next two weekends.  From Friday to Sunday, 10am-5pm.

Fridays are Senior Day (free foil with poinsettias for seniors).

The 24th Annual Poinsettia Festival is going on at Gardener’s World at 3401 E Baseline Road, Phoenix, two miles west of Arizona Mills Mall.

The festival is free and so is parking. Proceeds benefit the Salvation Army.

Sharon Petterson says Gardener’s World’s 24th Annual Poinsettia Festival is the perfect tradition to begin the holiday season. The community is invited to share in the splendor of magnificent holiday displays of over 20,000 poinsettias in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes.

A unique part of this event is the self-guided greenhouse tour that shows you where the poinsettias have been lovingly grown. You can also learn how to care for them in your home. Be sure to bring your cameras for all the amazing photo opportunities for your Christmas cards. Food is available for purchase.

A true event, the Poinsettia Festival features spectacular Christmas displays at the base of beautiful South Mountain. The nursery farm atmosphere is a special treat for the family with free wagon rides pulled behind tractors. A family affair, this is the place for the young at heart of all ages.
