Phoenix Convention Center chef spices up fare

Days earlier, Cibrian excitedly strolled between the silver-green rows of vegetables at Maya’s Farm near 32nd Street and Southern Road. The south Phoenix farm is one of several that supplies produce to the convention center.

“The morning is the best time to come,” said Cibrian, trailed by his food distributor, Richard Supat.

Because the center must often feed hundreds or thousands of people at once, local farms can’t supply all the center’s food. Cibrian says he incorporates as much as he can. The payoff is on the plate.
